Belmont Behavioral Health Offers Risk Assessment on its Website During National Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Philadelphia, PA, February 10, 2003—Belmont Behavioral Health offers an Eating Attitudes Test on its website to help people learn about their attitudes towards
food and body image and to assess their risk for an eating disorder. The test, available during National Eating Disorders
Awareness Week (February 23 through March 2) and throughout the year, is online at
www.einstein.edu/eatingdisorderstest.
"The test includes a wide range of questions pertaining to eating and it can be very useful in helping people gain information
and insight into the role food plays in their life," says Denise Lensky, PhD, Director of the Eating Disorders Program at
Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment. "Keep in mind that it’s not intended to be a diagnostic tool or to take the place
of an evaluation by a qualified mental health professional," she adds.
Two common eating disorders, anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, affect more than eight million teenagers and young adults
in the United States. Eating disorders vary in scope and severity. Unfortunately, many of these problems go undetected and
people don’t receive the help they need. If left untreated, eating disorders can lead to life-threatening medical complications
or even death.
For a confidential evaluation, call Belmont Behavioral Health at 1-800-EINSTEIN or (215) 877-2000.
Belmont Behavioral Health, part of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, is one of the region’s largest behavioral health systems,
offering a full array of mental health, addictions, eating disorders and treatment programs for children, adolescents, adults
and older adults.
