Valorie S. Haves, MD, Appointed Medical Director of Albert Einstein Medical Center’s Crisis Response Center

Philadelphia, PA, May 5, 2003—Valorie S. Haves, MD, has been appointed Medical Director of the Crisis Response Center (CRC) at Germantown Community Health Services, part of the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. The CRC is a program that provides emergency psychiatric services to adults, adolescents and children 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Einstein’s CRC which is one of five in the City of Philadelphia, recently moved to its new, expanded location at One Penn Boulevard, Philadelphia. Approximately 8,000 adults, adolescents and children are treated each year at the Center.

Dr. Haves has extensive experience in directing psychiatric emergency services both at Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia where she served as Medical Director for the past four years, and at Pennsylvania Hospital, Hall-Mercer Division, where she served as Medical Director from 1990 to 1998.

She is board-certified in General Psychiatry and serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as on its re-certification committee. Dr. Haves completed her psychiatry residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and completed a fellowship in eating disorders at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry. She serves as Chair, Emergency Psychiatry Section of the Philadelphia Psychiatric Society as well as on the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society’s Disaster Planning Committee. In addition, Dr. Haves is a liaison to the Philadelphia Police Department.
