Albert Einstein Medical Center Launches One of the First Accredited Radiologic Technology Night Programs in the U.S.
Philadelphia, PA, March 17, 2003—According to a survey by the American Hospital Association, hospitals are reporting a 15 percent vacancy rate for radiologic
technologists.
In an effort to attract new students, this spring Albert Einstein Medical Center will open one of the first accredited radiologic
technology night schools in the U.S. The school is accredited by the Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
Radiologic technologists, or radiographers, use their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and radiation techniques
to obtain high-quality diagnostic images of the human body. Hospitals and clinics employ the majority of radiographers, but
others choose to work in sales, research and higher education.
"The response to the radiologic technology program has been overwhelming," says Beth Duffy, Vice President, Healthcare Services.
"We have already received over 200 applications."
The night program is 30 months in length. For 24 consecutive months, students take classes and clinical education in the evening
Monday through Friday. For the remaining six months, students attend full-time, weekday classes and clinical education. Upon
completion, students receive a Certificate in Radiologic Technology from Albert Einstein Medical Center. Graduates are then
eligible to take the nation examination in radiography, administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Accredited by the Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, Albert Einstein Medical Center’s day program for the School
of Radiologic Technology opened in 1946. With over 190,000 diagnostic examinations performed annually, the Einstein Department
of Radiology is among the most active in Pennsylvania.
Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, a member of the Jefferson Health System, provides healthcare services through Albert Einstein
