
John O’Malley, MD, Appointed Associate Chairperson for Psychiatry for Albert Einstein Medical Center
Philadelphia, PA, May 5, 2003—John O’Malley, MD, has been appointed Associate Chairperson, Psychiatry, for Albert Einstein Medical Center and Child and
Adolescent Division Chief, Belmont Behavioral Health, part of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. Dr. O’Malley has extensive
experience both as a senior manager for a variety of healthcare institutions and as a clinician.
Dr. O’Malley received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI, and completed his
internship in Pediatrics from Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed a residency in Child Psychiatry from the Hawthorn Center,
Northville, MI, and residencies in General Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical
School, Boston, MA.
Prior to joining Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, Dr. O’Malley was Senior Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Saad
Specialist Hospital in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he was instrumental in developing a new 500-bed tertiary acute care hospital.
He also served as Senior Vice President of System Clinical Services for Louisiana Health System in Lafayette, LA where he
was responsible for ensuring the health system’s quality of medical care. His background also includes serving as Vice President
of Clinical Affairs for The Devereux Foundation in Devon, PA.
Dr. O’Malley is editor/reviewer of several psychiatric journals including: American Journal of Psychiatry; American Journal
of Orthopsychiatry; and Archives of General Psychiatry. He has authored and co-authored articles primarily pertaining to children
and cancer. Dr. O’Malley is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association; American Academy of Child Psychiatry; American
College of Physician Executives; and American Orthopsychiatric Association.
