
Bharat Kantharia, MD, Appointed Director of Electrophysiology at Albert Einstein Medical Center
Philadelphia, PA, September 23, 2003— Bharat Kantharia, MD, has been appointed Director of Electrophysiology in the Division of Cardiology at Albert Einstein
Medical Center.
Dr. Kantharia received his medical degree from the Seth G S Medical College and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital at the University
of Bombay, India. He completed his residency training at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, NY, and his cardiology training
at Albany Medical College Hospital, Albany, NY. Dr. Kantharia completed his fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the
Allegheny University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA.
Prior to joining Albert Einstein Medical Center, Dr. Kantharia was on staff in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at the MCP
and Hahnemann University Hospitals, and a faculty member at Drexel University College of Medicine. He has written numerous
papers, book chapters and abstracts on a variety of electrophysiology topics. His research interests include new designs and
techniques for pacemaker and defibrillator lead extraction, formulas for arrhythmia detection by dual defibrillator/pacemaker,
and new mapping techniques to facilitate ablative therapy for different arrhythmias.
Dr. Kantharia is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine/Cardiovascular
Diseases, and a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine/Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, a member of the Jefferson Health System, provides healthcare services through Albert Einstein
