
James T. Diehl, MD, Appointed Interim Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center
Philadelphia, PA, December 23, 2004 - James T. Diehl, MD, has been appointed Interim Chairman, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical
Center, and has joined the leadership of Einstein Institute for Heart and Vascular Health. Dr. Diehl also serves as Director,
Division of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Diehl received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. He completed a surgical
internship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, and a general surgery residency
at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, Dr. Diehl completed residency training in cardiothoracic surgery
at Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, and at Mount Sinai Hospital,
Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Diehl is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He serves as Clinical Professor of Surgery at Jefferson
Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He has co-authored numerous articles on a variety of cardiothoracic topics
for various medical journals. Dr. Diehl is a fellow of several professional societies, including American College of Angiology,
American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians and American College of Surgeons.
Three cardiothoracic surgeons who are also on staff at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University will be performing
surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center. They include: Scott C. Silvestry, MD, Linda J. Bogar, MD, and Daniel Marelli, MD.
