Melanie Marchand, one of Philadelphia’s best-known fitness experts, is opening SIS Fitness at 1320 Somerville Avenue, one
block from the SEPTA stop at Broad and Olney. The grand-opening ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place Saturday, January 15,

Located on the first floor of the newly renovated Yorkhouse North (YoNo) high-rise across the street from Albert Einstein
Medical Center, the gym has an 1100 square-foot group fitness room, the latest cardio and strength training equipment, 10
Johnny G spinners in a separate room, a wellness center for workshops and cooking demonstrations, a massage therapy room and
a locker room. “I’ve dedicated my life to helping people improve their physical, mental and spiritual health,” says Ms. Marchand.
“The center will have a personal, multicultural approach to fitness. Trainers and instructors will gear workouts to the individual

hold talks and workshops designed to address the special health needs of members.
Besides Ms. Marchand, the center’s staff includes over 20 certified personal trainers and group fitness instructors who offer
individual and group instruction on strength training, stretching, African dance, Pilates, belly dance, kick boxing, soul
line dance, low-impact aerobics, power stepping, spinning, stability ball, tai chi and yoga. Flexible memberships include
