Albert Einstein Medical Center Offers Free Prostate Cancer Screenings
Philadelphia, PA, August 31, 2004 – Albert Einstein Medical Center will offer free prostate cancer screenings on Tuesday, September 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. Offered
during Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, the screenings will be held at Einstein’s Cancer Center located on the first floor
of the Braemer Heart Center Building, 5501 Old York Road. To schedule an appointment for a free screening, call 1-800-EINSTEIN.
This year approximately 230,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The disease is nearly 100 percent survivable if
detected early. Unfortunately, for many men there are no early warning signs or symptoms. The only way to detect prostate
cancer in its early stages is through a simple blood test (PSA) and an exam. It is recommended that all men over the age of
40 be screened and men at high risk (African-American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer) should be checked
annually starting at age 35.
Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, a member of the Jefferson Health System, provides healthcare services through Albert Einstein
Medical Center, Germantown Community Health Services, Willow Terrace (a nursing home), Einstein at Elkins Park, MossRehab,
Willowcrest (a center for subacute care), Belmont Behavioral Health and a number of outpatient and satellite locations. Einstein
also operates a primary care network, Einstein Neighborhood Healthcare. For more information, visit www.einstein.edu or call
1-800-EINSTEIN.
