Albert Einstein Cancer Center Recognized by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons
Philadelphia, PA, March 8, 2005 -- Albert Einstein Cancer Center has received three-year approval from the Commission on Cancer of the American College
of Surgeons (ACS).
The Commission’s Approvals Program sets and reviews quality standards for cancer programs across the country. Only one in
four hospitals that treat cancer receives this approval. This is the second time Einstein’s Cancer Center has received the
approval since it opened in 1999.
“This is an acknowledgement that we provide the newest treatments and a team approach that involves medical oncologists,
surgeons, radiation oncologists and other cancer specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of each and every patient,” says
Medical Director William Tester, MD, FACP.
To meet the standards necessary for Commission approval, Einstein’s Cancer Center underwent a rigorous evaluation and review
of its performance. The Cancer Center received the highest level commendations for its early detection programs, compliance
with the American Joint Committee standards on tumor staging, excellence in clinical research, and outcomes analyses.
