Albert Einstein Medical Center Offers Free Workshops on Medicare’s New Prescription Drug Coverage
Philadelphia, PA, October 4, 2005– Starting January 1, 2006, Medicare’s new prescription drug coverage will give seniors more affordable medicine. But right
now, the new coverage is giving seniors lots of information, choices and decisions. To help seniors make sense of their new
Medicare coverage, Albert Einstein Medical Center’s APPRISE Program is holding free workshops for senior citizen groups, churches
and other community organizations.
“This fall, seniors will receive information about Medicare prescription drug coverage from all directions – from the government,
employers, insurance companies and the news media,” says Juanita Way, Community Relations Manager, Albert Einstein Medical
Center. “Here in Pennsylvania, seniors can choose to get their coverage from 19 stand-alone prescription drug plans and 16
Medicare Advantage plans,” explains Way.
Since last spring, Way has been visiting community organizations in North, Northeast and Northwest Philadelphia. She has explained
the new coverage – and how to tackle the process of selecting a prescription drug plan – to hundreds of seniors and their
families.
To request a free Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Workshop for your organization now through December, please call 215-456-7600.
Way urges organizations to schedule workshops now. During October, seniors should receive information about prescription drug
coverage in the Medicare & You handbook mailed to their homes. Enrollment for coverage starts November 15, 2005 and runs through
May 15, 2006.
