
New Physicians Join Department of Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center
Philadelphia, PA, August 10, 2006 -- Steven L. Sivak, MD, Paul J. Johnson Chairman of Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, has announced the appointment
of eight new full-time faculty members to the Department of Medicine this academic year. They are:
Raghan Abouasaleh, MD, Hospitalist Division
Dr. Abouasaleh received her medical degree from Damascus University, Damascus, Syria, and completed an internship and internal
medicine residency training at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. She then served as Chief Resident at Mountainside Hospital
in Montclair, NJ.
Tandeep Bhatti, DO, Cardiology
Dr. Bhatti received her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Old Westbury, NY, and completed an internship
and residency in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY. Dr Bhatti completed her fellowship in cardiovascular
diseases at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dana Jacobs-Kosmin, MD, Rheumatology
Dr. Jacobs-Kosmin received her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, NJ, and completed an internship
and internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital. Dr. Jacobs-Kosmin completed her fellowship training in rheumatology
at Thomas Jefferson University and has special interests in systemic lupus erythematosus and osteoporosis.
Aaron Kosmin, MD, Infectious Disease
Dr. Kosmin received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed an internship and internal medicine
residency at Temple University Hospital. He then served as Chief Resident at Temple where he also completed his fellowship
training in infectious diseases. Dr. Kosmin has special interests in travel medicine and clinical microbiology.
Nina Mingioni, MD, Internal Medicine
Dr. Mingioni received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed an internship and internal
medicine residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she also served as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Mingioni’s
special interests include preventive medicine, managing patients with multiple medical conditions, diabetes and hypertension.
Gregory Pressman, MD, Cardiology
Dr. Pressman received his medical degree form Temple University and completed an internship and residency at the Graduate
Hospital. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at Graduate. After several years in practice, while maintaining teaching
positions at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.
Roberta Turner, MD, Palliative Care
Dr Turner received her medical degree from The University of Virginia and completed an internship and internal medicine residency
training at Presbyterian Hospital, University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a residency at Hahnemann University where
she also served as Chief Resident. Prior to joining AEMC, Dr. Turner was the Medical Director of Hospice and Palliative Care
for the city of Greensboro, NC.
Arshad A. Wani, MD, Pulmonary Critical Care
Dr. Wani received his medical degree from Government Medical College, Srinagar, India, and completed an internship and internal
medicine residency at UPMC McKeesport, University of Pittsburgh. Dr Wani completed a pulmonary /critical care fellowship at
Albert Einstein Medical Center and has a special interest in asthma and interstitial lung disease.
Dr. Sivak also announced the addition of several physicians to Einstein’s ECHA (Einstein Community Health Associates) network:
Marina Shtern, MD, Family Practice
Dr. Shtern received her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine and completed a residency in family practice
at Abington Memorial Hospital. She will practice at ECHA’s Pennypack location.
Parvati Thiru, MD
Dr. Thiru received her medical degree at the Annamalai University Hospital and completed a residency in internal medicine
at Drexel University College of Medicine. She will be joining Dr. Shtern at the Pennypack practice.
Thomas Lubin, MD, Family Practice
Dr. Lubin received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed a residency in family Practice at the Mountain
Side Family Practice Residency in Verona, NJ. Dr. Lubin will be joining ECHA’s Frankford North location.
