
Matilde M. Irigoyen, MD, Named Chair, Department of Pediatrics, Albert Einstein Medical Center
Philadelphia, PA, September 19, 2006 – Matilde M. Irigoyen, MD, has been appointed Chair, Department of Pediatrics, Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Irigoyen
will be responsible for the academic growth of the department and the expansion of pediatric services throughout Albert Einstein
Healthcare Network.
Dr. Irigoyen brings a strong background in quality primary pediatric care, medical education and community service, with special
interests in integrating medical education through service learning models that are responsive to the child health needs of
the community.
Dr. Irigoyen comes to Einstein from Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY, where she served as Professor of Clinical
Pediatrics and Population and Family Health and Director of the Division of General Pediatrics and the Academic General Pediatrics
Fellowship.
Dr. Irigoyen received her MD from the Buenos Aires University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics
and community medicine and a fellowship in ambulatory pediatrics, all at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, NY. Dr. Irigoyen
is board certified in Pediatrics. Dr. Irigoyen has published extensively in the areas of medical education, immunizations,
and the care of inner city children.
