Women's Center at Albert Einstein Medical Center Earns Accreditation from American College of Radiology
Philadelphia, PA, March 20, 2007 – The Marion-Louise Saltzman Women’s Center at Albert Einstein Medical Center has received a three-year term of accreditation
by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for its new digital mammography units.
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of
the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Qualifications of Einstein personnel and facility equipment are assessed and their findings are reported to the ACR’s Committee
on Accreditation.
This fall, four full-field digital mammography units were installed in the Marion-Louise Saltzman Women’s Center, making it
all digital for breast imaging. Digital mammography offers a new ability to process and view images which result in greater
flexibility for the radiologist in interpreting the images. The images can also be enhanced, manipulated and improved by the
radiologist, so a digital mammogram can provide more information for diagnosis.
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic-interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists
and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology
and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
