Einstein Liver Disease Center Opens in Egg Harbor Township
Bringing Einstein Excellence to the Jersey Shore
Philadelphia, PA, June 28, 2007 -- The liver is the largest organ inside your body. And it is also one of the most important with many functions, including
changing food into energy and cleaning alcohol and poisons from the blood. Yet, according to the National Center for Health
Statistics, the American Liver Foundation, more than 26,000 people in the US die each year from chronic liver disease and
cirrhosis. Cirrhosis, a chronic liver disease, is the seventh leading disease-related cause of death in the United States.
The Einstein Center for Liver Disease, which performs liver transplants and liver surgery, has only been in existence for
12 years. Yet, with survival rates higher than the national average, the center attracts patients from around the country,
and the world.
Now, the Einstein expertise in the treatment for every kind of liver disease, including the most complex cases will be available
to residents of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey and the surrounding area. Scheduled to open on July 6, 2007, the Albert Einstein
Center for Liver Disease, Liver Surgery and Transplantation will be staffed by expert, exceptionally trained and compassionate
physicians. Patients will receive expert consultation provided by board-certified hepatologists, liver transplantation and
hepatobiliary surgeons and general surgeons.
“We are pleased to be able to bring this specialized care directly to the residents of Southern New Jersey,” commented Santiago Munoz, MD. “Einstein remains on the forefront of liver care, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the area’s
local team of physicians to deliver the highest-quality treatments for liver disorders.”
