
New Physicians Join Albert Einstein Healthcare Network
Philadelphia, PA, November 7, 2007 – Albert Einstein Healthcare Network has hired 29 new full-time physicians in eight departments located at various facilities
throughout the network.
Four new physicians have been appointed to Einstein’s Division of Cardiology: Sumeet Mainigi, MD, Associate Director of Electrophysiology; Dennis Sarabi, MD, Clinical Director of Cardiac CT and MRI;
Parul Patel, MD, an interventional cardiologist; and Agha W. Haider, MD, PhD, FACC, a noninvasive cardiologist. In addition,
Debra Braverman, MD, a national expert on enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP), a non-invasive treatment for heart disease,
also has joined Einstein’s Division of Cardiology.
Eight new physicians at several facilities have joined Einstein’s Department of Psychiatry: Freddy Ali, MD, joined Philadelphia Center for Human Development; Marc Weiss, MD, joined the Crisis Response Center and Outpatient
Department; Sachin Mehta, MD, joined the Department of Psychiatry; Kimberly Jones, MD, joined Belmont Center for Comprehensive
Treatment; Ajita Mathur, MD, joined the Department of Psychiatry; Ricardo Nunez, MD, joined the Research Department at Belmont
Center for Comprehensive Treatment; Iris Vivas, MD, joined the Crisis Response Center, and Charles McGlynn, MD, joined Belmont
Center for Comprehensive Treatment.
Six new physicians have joined Einstein’s Emergency Department: Matthew D. Cook, DO; Kenneth G. Lavelle, MD, a consultant on disaster management, decontamination and mass prophylaxis; Julie
M. O’Connor, MD; Deborah L. Pierce, DO; Jordan Spector, MD; and Philippe Lopez Torres, MD.
Four doctors have joined Einstein’s Department of Surgery: Rashad V. Choudry, MD, Section Chief, Endovascular Surgery; Doraid Jarrar, MD, Division of Thoracic Surgery; Alfred Trang,
MD, Section of Bariatric Surgery, and Kamran Khanmoradi, MD, Section Chief, Pancreas Transplantation.
Three new physicians have joined the Radiology Department: David Hertzog, MD, FACS, Interventional Radiology; Jean Delbrune, MD, Interventional Radiology, and Bahar Moussavian, MD,
Mammography and Body Imaging.
Additional appointments include: Nissa Blocher, MD, Division of Endocrinology; Craig Barkan, MD, Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine; and Inai M. Mkandawire, DO, MossRehab.
In addition to the new hires, Uma Borate, MD, and Joseph Grisalfi, MD, were elected 2007-08 House Staff President and Vice
President, respectively. They will serve as resident representatives and advocates on institutional committees at Einstein.
