Ringing the Bell for Stroke Alert

This year's Stroke Alert, May 6, 2008, kicked off at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange when (from left) Rodney Bell MD, Director
of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital's Cerebrovascular Center; Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz, NBC 10's chief meteorologist,
and George Newman MD, PhD, Chair of Neurosensory Sciences at Einstein, rang the opening bell. Einstein nurses also were on the trading floor conducting
blood pressure screenings for stock exchange employees and traders. According to Dr. Newman, the originator of Stroke Alert,
the day represents the combined efforts of the region's healthcare providers and volunteers who aim to reduce the impact of
stroke by saturating the community with one message: "Don't stall - make the call 9-1-1".
