Philadelphia, PA, September 9, 2008 ─ Albert Einstein Healthcare Network has partnered with Radio One Philadelphia to present “Take A Loved One to The Doctor Day”
─ a national campaign encouraging Americans to see a healthcare provider or make an appointment for the near future. Nationally
syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner, whose program airs in 115 markets nationwide, is the driving force behind the campaign.
On September 16, three prominent local radio stations ─ WRNB 107.9 (Joyner’s regional home), Praise 103.9 and 100.3 The Beat
─ will broadcast live from the main lobby of Albert Einstein Medical Center at 5501 Old York Road in Philadelphia. Radio
personalities E. Steven Collins, Mo’Shay LaRen of WRNB, Laiya and Pooch of The Beat, and CeCe McGhee of Praise will broadcast
their respective shows from 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. The broadcasts will air in conjunction with a major information, education and
health screening fair, running from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., to be held on the front lawn of the medical center.
By focusing its efforts on a single day, the partners hope to generate a better understanding of the importance of regular
health screenings and the value of a relationship with a healthcare professional.
Working with community organizations, sponsors and associations from across the Greater Philadelphia region, Einstein and
Radio One not only will offer screenings but also health workshops, entertainment featuring Kevin Jarido and Nu Virtu, exercise
demonstrations and more. Celebrities, area politicians and civic leaders also will be in attendance.
The Take A Loved One event is a perfect fit for Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, whose mission is to provide intelligent
and responsive healthcare and education to as many as we can reach in the communities we serve.
"Along with Radio One Philadelphia (WRNB 107.9, WPPZ 103.9, 100.3 The Beat) and the incredible resources of Albert Einstein
Healthcare Network, Tom Joyner's drive to increase the life chances of African-Americans comes together with the most comprehensive
plan to date,” said E. Steven Collins, Director of Urban Marketing and External Relations. “Take A Loved One to The Doctor is a direct call for all Philadelphians to check on their health and on the health of the
ones they love. Our partnership with Albert Einstein Healthcare renews the commitment we are making to improve the life chances
