
Pennsylvania Association of Rehabilitation Facilities Recognizes MossRehab with Four Awards
Philadelphia, PA, October 10, 2008 ─ Held September 23-26, the annual Pennsylvainia Association of Rehabilitation Facilities Conference (PARF) highlighted issues
confronted by individuals with disabilities, their families, professionals, and communities focused on rehabilitation. The
four-day conference featured keynote addresses, exhibits, training and poster sessions, seminars, and awards presentations.
A division of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, MossRehab was the most honored facility, receiving four prestigious awards.
MossRehab Camp Independence – the weeklong, overnight program that provides individuals 18 years of age and older with physical disabilities the opportunity
to enjoy the fun and friendships of summer camp – received the Rehabilitation Agency Recognition Award. The award recognizes
outstanding achievement or the development of an exemplary program or service for individuals with disabilities.
Nathaniel Mayer, MD, who was named one of Philadelphia Magazine’s 2008 Top Doctors, won the Distinguished Career Award. The award honors an individual
who is retiring from a distinguished career in the rehabilitation field and has demonstrated a strong commitment and contribution
to the field of rehabilitation.
Albert Esquenazi, MD, also named one of Philadelphia Magazine’s 2008 Top Doctors, received the Rehabilitation Leadership Award. The award honors
an individual who has provided leadership in the development of services and in the improvement of access to services for
people with disabilities.
Joseph Padova, OTRL, Occupational Therapist, won the Individual Distinguished Service Award, which is presented to an individual “who, by an
unusual act or by a significant history of service, has made a substantial contribution to the development of rehabilitation
facilities or has had a marked impact on both the quality and quantity of services provided by rehabilitation programs.”
PARF is a statewide organization of facilities serving individuals with physical, mental, social and/or emotional disabilities.
Since 1969, PARF has been actively working toward improving the availability, accessibility and quality of rehabilitation
services for persons with disabilities across the Commonwealth.
