Tradition Continues With Einstein Physicians Recognized as “Top Doctors” by Philadelphia Magazine

Einstein Ranked Number One for Appropriate Care Measures

Philadelphia, PA, May 7, 2009 – Twelve doctors from Albert Einstein Healthcare Network have been recognized as “Top Doctors” in the April issue of Philadelphia magazine. This group, designated along with others by their peers as the region’s best, sustains a long tradition of Einstein experts receiving this acknowledgement. The doctors represent a broad range of clinical areas, including surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, gastroenterology, psychiatry, diabetes, and others.

In addition, the magazine published patient care scores reported to the non-profit agency Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance based on patient care provided at area hospitals for major causes of hospital admissions -- heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgery. Among 30 area hospitals, Albert Einstein Medical Center earned the highest overall appropriate care score.

“Our number one regional ranking in this survey along with the recognition our doctors received, reaffirms the talent and dedication among our staff to continually improve quality care within our network,” says Barry R. Freedman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network. “Our physicians, nurses, and staff across the network, work so diligently each and every day to provide patients with an exceptional Einstein experience,” Mr. Freedman adds.

Two Einstein physicians were included in the magazine’s Rising Stars category, which recognizes physicians age 40 and under for their outstanding work.
