SonoCiné Ultrasound

  • This revolutionary type of ultrasound can:

    • find more small cancers than mammography alone when combined with an annual mammogram.
    • increase confidence in your diagnosis.

If your mammogram shows you have “dense” breasts, you may want to consider scheduling a SonoCiné examination in addition to your mammogram. In dense breasts, studies show that an additional ultrasound can find 40% to 100% more cancers than found by mammography alone.

Mammography-Tiny CancersTiny cancers (which are white) are easily visible in fatty replaced breasts (which are dark on a mammogram).

Mammography-Dense BreastsCancers can be invisible in dense breast tissue (which are also white on a mammogram).

Digital UltrasoundOn ultrasound, cancers appear dark against the white background of dense breast tissue (image shows a 6mm cancer not detected on a mammogram).

    The Exam

    • Requires no breast compression and no injections.
    • Takes about 15 minutes.
    • Is permanently recorded for your physician’s careful review and follow-up.

    The Facts

    • Finding cancers when they are small saves lives.
    • Studies show an additional SonoCiné ultrasound exam finds smaller cancers that are not detectable on a mammogram in many women.
    • SonoCiné helps your physician perform a better ultrasound exam.
