The Center for Urban Health Policy and Research is an applied research center of Albert Einstein Healthcare Network that studies, demonstrates, supports and champions ways to improve the delivery of healthcare to diverse, urban underserved communities. Through the work of the Center, Einstein seeks to identify and address the multilevel system issues that impede optimal health and healthcare in the diverse urban communities it serves.

Established in 2001, the Center serves as the focal point for the urban health research and demonstration projects conducted by AEHN. Research-driven questions are used to investigate health disparities, health care delivery systems, quality of care, and questions of health policy. Dissemination of findings is achieved through publications and presentations to academic, professional, and lay audiences.

The center also offers the expertise of its staff, experienced in the design, implementation and analysis of both qualitative and outcomes research and evaluation, on a consultative basis.

The Center resides organizationally under President and CEO Barry Freedman.
