  • Doraid Jarrar, M.D.

    Dr. Doraid Jarrar is Section Chief of Thoracic and Robotic Surgery for Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he is also the Co-Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program.

    Board certified in Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Jarrar is one of the driving forces behind the Einstein Healthcare Network Lung Cancer Screening Program and a leader in taking a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patients with chest disease. As a co-investigator for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group clinical trial, he assisted in the Randomized Phase II Study of pre-operative chemoradiotherapy followed by consolidation chemotherapy in potentially operable locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer.

    Born in Munich, Germany, Dr. Jarrar received his medical degree from Ludwig Maximilian University School of Medicine, followed by a research associate role at the Brown University School of Medicine Center for Surgical Research in Providence, Rhode Island. After completing his surgical residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, he fulfilled a Thoracic fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

    Dr. Jarrar has been honored with numerous awards, including the Doyle Haynes Memorial Trauma Award from the Alabama Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and first place in the Resident Award Competition at the 80th Annual Meeting of the New England Surgical Society.  He is an avid publisher, taking part in various peer-reviewed articles, and most recently co-published a chapter about lung cancer screening in the American College of Surgeon's Textbook with a thoracic surgeon from the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. A member of various professional societies and committees, including the American College of Chest Physicians and the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, Dr. Jarrar has presented at numerous national and international conferences.
