Elliot started his residency at AEMC in 1962. In 1965 he completed his Neurology residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and moved
onto the National Hospital in London, Public Health Service in 1966 through 1968 and started a fellowship at Children’s Hospital
in Washington DC in 1968. Dr. Wilner had his own neurology practice from 1969-2005. Now retired, with a wife, three children
and three sons-in-law, he volunteers at an outpatient clinic in Silver Spring, Maryland, teaches at Congregation Beth El,
in Bethesda, Maryland and is an avid bike rider, gardener and play-write.
Dr. Young attended Einstein’s Pathology Residency Program from 1952 to 1955. In 1954 she completed a Fellowship at Jefferson
University Hospital and enjoyed a long career as Director of Cytopathology from 1955 to 1989. Geraldine shares three children
with her husband, Irving Young, MD.
Dr. Smith attended Einstein’s Endocrinology Residency Program from 1962 to 1964. He is currently a full-time faculty member
at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Prior to that (1971-1983) he was a tenured Professor, Department of
Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology. Upon resigning from that position in 1983, he founded the Institute for Reproductive
Medicine and Endocrinology with two medical associates. Presently, he is Clinical Professor, IntMed (ENDO) UTMSH.
Larry attended Einstein’s Ophthalmology Fellowship Program from 1970 to 1971. In 2000, he retired as Associate Surgeon, Retina
Service/Co-Director Retinal Vascular Unit at Wills Eye Hospital and Associate Professor Department of Ophthalmology at Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Magaral has co-authored 150 publications and 15 book chapters. In 2005, he was placed in
Upper Moreland High School’s Hall of Fame. He is on the Board of Directors for three charitable foundations. His three children
have graduated from Bryn Mawr and Lehigh Universities. Larry’s children and grandson all live in New England and he lives
in a historical residence, circa 1804.
Andrew graduated from the General Practice Dental Residency Program in 1982. He continued his dental education to specialize
in Periodontics and Prostehodontics. He currently maintains a private practice in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania while teaching at
Einstein. He and his wife, Nancy were married in 1989 and share two children, Asher and Lydia.
Hector Bensimon, MD
Urology Residency Program
1962-1966
Dr. Bensimon attended Einstein’s Urology Residency Program, Southern and Northern Division, from 1962 to 1966. He had been
an Associate Professor at George Washington University and has held the title of Chief of the Department of Urology, V.A.M.C.
in Washington D.C. Hector is a member of the American Urologic Association, the American Board of Urology and Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons. Dr. Bensimon is the author of Urologic Surgery, McGraw-Hill, 1991. He is enjoying his retirement
at his home in McLean, Virginia
Phillip C. Ginsberg, DO, JD
Surgery and Urology Residency Programs
1981-1985
Dr. Ginsberg attended Einstein’s Surgery Residency Program and Einstein’s Urology Residency Program from 1981 to 1985. He
currently holds the title of Chairman, Department of Urology at Einstein.
Bernard Blumberg, MD, FACP
Rotating Internship
1954-1955
Dr. Blumberg completed his Rotating Internship with Einstein from 1954 to 1955. His residency was at the VA Hospitals in Philadelphia
and Chicago, and his third year of residency was at Mount Zion Medical Center in San Francisco, California. He had an office
practice, mainly Geriatrics and was the Medical Director of the Jewish Home in San Francisco, California. Now, semi-retired,
he is the Medical Director at the Presbyterian Home in San Francisco. Widowed, and remarried for twenty years he has three
children and four grandchildren. Bernard occasionally visits Philadelphia and enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking and traveling
in his spare time.
Donald Neil Dubrow, MD
Rotating Internship
1958-1959
Although Dr. Dubrow did not do his residency here at Einstein, he did his Rotating Internship at Northern and Southern Divisions
from 1958 to 1959. After his Internship he was called to serve as Captain USAF (MC), Chief of Dispensary Services at Brooks
AFB in San Antonio, Texas from 1959 to 1963. Upon leaving the service he went on to complete his Residency in Internal Medicine
at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas from 1961 to 1966. He was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1968,
recertified 1975 and FACP since 1992. He worked in his Aetna Medical Practice in Geriatrics from 1966 until it sold in 2002.
He has been enjoying teaching first year medical students the art of physical examination and history as an Assistant Clinical
Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School since his retirement from his practice
in 2002. He and wife Nanci (Sherman) share three lovely daughters, Fran Berg, Eve Lynn Dubrow, and Karen Dubrow. Donald and
Nanci also have two grandchildren Jared and Danielle, ages 16 and 10.
Martin Grabois, MD
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program
1969-1972
Martin attended Einstein’s Physical and Rehabilitation Residency Program from 1969 to 1972. He currently holds the title of
Professor and Chairman Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
He has been married to Ellen Weiss Grabois, a retired lawyer, since 1964. The couple share two children, Meredith, married
to attorney Brian Josef, Meredith and Brian have one child, and Sarah, who is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania.
Richard Lewis Schafer, MD
1948 to 1950
Dr. Schafer attended Einstein from 1948 to 1950 (Jewish Hospital). He served in the Korean War (Navy) and did a Fellowship
at Ohio State University in Hematology from 1952 to 1954. Between the years of 1955 and 2005, he maintained a private practice
while teaching at MUO. In 1999, he retired after a second pacemaker. Richard is retired, living in Toledo, Ohio with his wife
Sandra and they share two sons. Dr. Schafer would like updates on colleagues from 55+ years ago!
Sandor Paskin, MD
Rotating Intern
1963 to 1964
Sandor was a rotating intern at Einstein from 1963 to 1964. A retired, Board Certified Anesthesiologist, he lives in New Jersey
and has five children.

Urology Residency Program
1975 – 1978
Richard attended Einstein’s Urology Residency Program from 1975 to 1978. He operates a solo practice at Warminster Hospital
in Pennsylvania. Having been widowed in 2003, he now plans to re-marry in 2007. He enjoys two daughters and three step-daughters
and as a result of his upcoming marriage, another step-daughter and step-son!
