Overview of the School of Radiologic Technology
The Albert Einstein Medical Center’s School of Radiologic Technology has been in existence since 1946, graduating its first
class in 1948. The Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredits the school, and graduates are eligible
to apply for admission to the certification exam administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Students in the program gain a wealth of knowledge in the Albert Einstein Medical Center Department of Radiology and in various
satellite facilities. The AEMC Department of Radiology is the largest in a community hospital in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A wealth of training materials is available from the over 190,000 diagnostic examinations performed annually. Aside from the
many routine diagnostic rooms, modern and specialized facilities are available in angiography; fluoroscopy, neuroradiography
and ultrasound, as well as head and whole-body spiral computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. An entire section
of the department is devoted to the performance of mammographic procedures. Students also gain valuable outpatient clinical
experience at some satellite facilities in the Philadelphia area.
The radiologic technology program is twenty-four months in length, awarding a Certificate in Radiologic Technology upon successful
completion of all academic and clinical requirements. It has a September starting date with orientation for all first year
students commencing the Wednesday after Labor Day. Classes and clinical education are scheduled Monday through Friday.
The Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology considers all candidates for admission without regard to
race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex or disability.
