Richard L. Schaffer, MD
1948 to 1950
Internal Medicine Residency Program

Dr. Schaffer completed a rotating internship at Einstein from 1948 to 1949. In 1949 he was a resident of Pathology and 1950, Internal Medicine. Now retired, he maintained a practice in Hematology/Oncology in Toledo, OH from 1955 to 2001. He also held a professorship of Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Ohio at Toledo from 1972 to 2006. He would love to hear from any former colleagues. sandraschafer@buckeyeexpress.net.

Rachel attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2005 to 2006 and is currently enrolled in an Ophthalmology Residency Program. She is employed at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

John Mark Cropsey, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
2005 to 2006

John attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2005 to 2006. He is currently doing an Ophthalmology Residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia where he resides.

Ira Robert Sharp, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program

Ira attended Einstein's Internal Medicine Program from 1979 to 1982. He has been in private practice (P.I.M. Associates), with Mortimer J. Strong, DO, Richard Leavitt, DO, Joel Glassman, MD, Seymour Siegel, MD, Alan Malkin, MD, located at Einstein Plaza in Jenkintown, PA. He comments that after 25 years since he finished his residency program, he still enjoys the practice of medicine.

Dave Victor Sinker, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1971-1974

Dave attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1971 to 1974, after which he became Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He maintains an Internal Medicine private practice in northeast Philadelphia and was blessed with three children and three grandchildren.

Morton Jerome Gollub, MD

Dr. Gollub attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program after which he became a long-standing staff member. Currently retired, he and wife Joan share two children, Richard and Jordan and two grandchildren, Victor and Rebecca.

Samuel Baer, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1933-1935

Dr. Baer attended Einstein’s (Jewish Hospital) Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1933 to 1935, after his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania’s Medical School in 1933. In 1936, after completing his residency program he became an Einstein staff member until his retirement at age 90. Dr. Baer is a certified cardiologist and internist.

Eugene Brecher, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1945-1946, 1949-1950

Dr. Brecher attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1945 to 1946 and 1949 to 1950. After more than 50 years of practicing medicine, he retired in 2005.

Donald Lee Kahn, MD
Internal Medicine and Cardiology Residency Programs
1967-1969 (PGY 1+2)
1971-1972 (PGY 3)
1972-1974 (Cardiology Fellowship)

Donald attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Programs PGY 1&2 from 1967 to 1969, PGY 2 from 1971 to 1972. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Cardiology from 1972 to 1974. He maintains a private practice at Einstein’s Inpatient Care and at Northeast Hospital while he currently holds the position of Chair of Medicine at Northeast Hospital. Dr. Kahn is married and he and his wife share two children and two grandchildren.

Jeffrey Brait Cohn, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1980-1983

Jeffrey attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1980 to 1983. He maintained a private practice in Hematology/Oncology until 2005 at which time he became the Chief Quality Officer/Patient Safety Officer at AEHN. He began the Pallative Care Program Consult Service at Einstein in 2005 and received his Masters in Healthcare Management at Harvard School of Public Health in 2005. He and his wife, Marcie have been married for 29 years and share two children, Alison and Josh.

Robert W. Solit, MD
Thoracic and Vascular Residency Program
1961-1962

Dr. Solit interned at AEMC from 1961 to 1962. Throughout his career he has held many positions including Vice President (1985-1989) and President of the Albert Einstein Medical Center’s Medical Staff (1989-1992). He is currently Attending Surgeon (1969-present) at AEMC and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; Clinical Professor of Surgery (1992- present) Jefferson Medical College; Head, Section of General Thoracic Surgery (1992-present) AEMC; Co-Director of Vascular Lab and Head, Section of Vascular Surgery (1993-present) AEMC. He and his wife, Linda met at Einstein and share four married children; Richard, David, Lisa and Douglas and eight grandchildren.

Leonard Fred Greenberg, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program 1959-1961
Cardiology Residency Program 1961-1963

Leonard attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1959 to 1961 and Cardiology Fellowship Program from 1961 to 1963. From 1965-1994 Leonard worked in a very active Internal Medicine private practice. In 1994 he joined full-time faculty at AEMC and was President of Medical Staff 1995-1998. He retired in 2003 but continues to teach on a voluntary basis at Einstein and Jefferson.

He and his wife Grace have been married since 1962, and share two children. Their daughter Caroline did her Radiology Residency at Einstein from 1991 to 1995.

Andrew Michael Halbert, DDS
General Practice Residency Program
1982

Andrew graduated from the General Practice Dental Residency Program in 1982. He continued his dental education to specialize in Periodontics and Prostehodontics. He currently maintains a private practice in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania while teaching at Einstein. He and his wife, Nancy were married in 1989 and share two children, Asher and Lydia.

Mark Capkin, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1980-1984

Dr. Capkin attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1980 to 1984. He is Einstein’s Chief of the General Medicine Division. Mark is married and has three children.

Herbert Elliot Cohen, MD, BA
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1967 to 1971

Dr. Cohen attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1967 to 1971. Currently retired, Herb lives in Weston, Florida with his second wife. He enjoys eight grandchildren and would like to hear where former colleagues are now.

Marlon Gregorio Brojan Ilagan, MD
Internal Medicine/GI Residency Program
1992 to 1997

Dr. Ilaan attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1992 to 1997 and became Board Certified in Internal Medicine and GI. He currently maintains and lives in the Winter Park area of Florida with his wife with whom he shares three children.

Belen Esparis, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1996 – 2000

Belen attended Einstein’s Internal Residency Program from 1996 to 2000 and went on to do a Fellowship in Sleep Disorders. She is currently working in private practice in Miami, Florida as a clinical instructor for the Sleep Disorders Fellowship Program at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Belen enjoys two great children, Max, 4 ½ and Emily, 1 ½.

Antonio Crespo, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
1996 – 2000

Antonio attended Einstein’s Internal Residency Program from 1996 to 2000 after which he completed an Infectious Disease Fellowship at Temple University Hospital. He is currently working in private practice in Orlando, Florida and is involved in the Internal Residency Program at Orlando Regional Medical Center and FSU in the Infectious Disease rotation. Antonio and wife/Pathologist, Carolina Wallis-Crespo share two children, Diego (an Einstein baby) now eight years old and Pablo, who is four.

Jennifer Tuazon, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
2002-2006

Jennifer recently graduated from Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. She has recently begun a Nephrology Fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Craig Lieberman, MD
Internal Medicine and Cardiology Residency Program
1988-1994

Craig attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine and Cardiology Residency Programs between the years of 1988 to 1994. Craig’s Junior Fellow became his wife of eleven years and together they share a son, Mace Adam Lieberman. Says Craig, “I have great appreciation for both the personal and professional gifts Einstein has given me and my wife, Ariare Lieberman, MD.

Kara Michelle Barnett, MD
Internal Medicine Residency Program
2005-2006

Kara attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Program from 2005 to 2006. She is currently doing an Anesthesia residency at University of Pennsylvania. Kara is interested in receiving updates about former colleagues at Einstein.

2003-2006

Damien attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2003 to 2006. He is currently doing a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Washington Cancer Institute in Washington, DC.

2002-2005

Ana attended Einstein’s Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2002 to 2005. She is currently doing an Endocrinology Fellowship at UMass in Worcester, Massachusetts
