Vision:

Fellowship Rotations:
The administrative fellowship is a one-year program, beginning in July, which exposes the fellow to three major areas of hospital
administration: Operations, Planning and Finance. The preceptor of the fellowship will be the Chief Administrative Officer
of the Network throughout the year, but the fellow will also report to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate Vice President
of Strategic Planning or the Chief Financial Officer depending on the rotation.
The fellow will shadow and work with senior level administrators to learn about the day-to-day operations of the hospital,
discover how the organization is strategically planning for the future, and gain a true understanding of how a large healthcare
organization stays on budget, even with its large population of medical assistance payors.
In addition, AEHN is currently in the process of building a new hospital in Montgomery County, PA in partnership with Montgomery
Hospital and Medical Center. This is the first hospital that will be built in this area in over 30 years. The fellow will
have the unique opportunity to be involved in parts of this process, including facility planning and architectural design.
The fellow will learn a variety of skills throughout the year. He or she will be exposed to both the senior management as
well as the various Boards, he or she will gain an understanding of various types of management and leadership, he or she
will have assignments which they have full responsibility for, and he or she will learn about the healthcare marketplace in
Philadelphia.
Compensation:
Competitive salary and benefits are offered.
Applicant Eligibility:
Candidates are eligible if they have received their Masters in Health Administration, Business Administration or a closely
related field of study or if they will receive their degrees in these areas upon completion of a one-year residency in hospital
administration.
Application Requirements:
Applicants need to provide the following requirements when submitting their applications:
- Cover letter
- Current resume
- Three letters of recommendation (including at least one from an employer and one from an academic institution)
- Official graduate school transcript
- Personal statement including the following elements:
- What makes AEHN a great place to complete your administrative fellowship?
- How will a fellowship at AEHN guide you further down a path to obtain your career objectives?
- This fellowship currently provides three set rotations: Operations, Planning and Finance. There is a fourth rotation that
is left up to the fellow’s preference. The fellow can choose to spend more time in one of the areas they were in previously
or if possible, create a rotation in an area they have not spent any time in yet. If you could create a rotation that would
be of high interest to you, what would it be? What would you spend your time doing? What area of hospital administration would
you like to delve into? Feel free to be creative. Applicants shouldn’t feel that if they were accepted, they would be held
to having this as their fourth rotation.
Applications are due no later than October 15, 2007. Phone and site interviews will be conducted in November and December.
Applicants will hear back from AEHN by the end of January 2008.
