    Growth and Innovation

From one resident and a single operatory in 1926, the department has expanded to 20 residents and 21 operatories in a modern 8,000 square-foot facility in the medical center's outpatient area. Einstein Medical Center's emergency unit has dental delivery equipment, including a panoramic X-ray unit, offering dental residents the opportunity to care for dental emergencies in the emergency unit.

In addition, dental residents provide dental treatment for patients under general anesthesia in the Medical Center's major operating suite.

In the clinical area, the department's Osseointegration Implant Program, which employs several contemporary systems, reflects Einstein's Commitment to innovation in dental medicine. This was the first hospital-based outpatient program of its kind in Philadelphia.

Most recently, major clinical renovations occurred including placement of new dental delivery systems in all 3 programs areas. Also, all dental imaging systems were converted to digital technology including the placement of a 3D Cone Beam unit utilized by the 3 residency programs. Residents present table clinics, poster displays and research papers at regional and national meetings.

    Endowments

Major endowments add to the level of academic and clinical excellence at Einstein Medical Center. The Maxwell S. Fogel Department of Dental Medicine, the I.B.
