The Department of Medicine’s state-of-the-are Johnson Learning Center features
Harvey, a life-like mannequin which can be programmed to simulate various cardiac disorders. Harvey aids learning by simulating
the bedside findings of a normal cardiovascular exam and over 20 abnormal cardiovascular disorders. Blood pressure, jugular
venous wave forms, arterial pulses, precordial movements, heart sounds, and respiration can be studied to give the learner
a complete understanding of the cardiovascular examination.
The Johnson Center also contains
IV CathSim, a simulator to practice IV catheter insertion and phlebotomy as welll as a variety of CD ROM’s to help students learn to
appreciate pathologic cardiac and heart sounds and access to many other on-line learning tools.
The Department of Medicine at Einstein is fortunate to have acquired an enviable Learning Center that few University or community
hospitals can afford for the benefit of its students and residents. This Learning Center is growing and we look forward to
the addition of new learning tools.
