    PGY-1

The resident will receive training in podiatric and non-podiatric rotations to enhance their medical knowledge.  Podiatric rotations are introductory medical and surgical rotations. Non-podiatric rotations consist of 8 months of concentrated rotations in internal medicine, general and vascular surgery, and emergency room medicine.

    PGY-2

During this year the resident will develop a proficiency in the management of podiatric medical and surgical cases.  The resident is expected to learn and develop knowledge, attitude and skills in pre-operative, and postoperative assessment and management of digital, first ray, soft tissue, and osseous foot surgery. The resident will rotate through podiatric surgery, podiatric clinic, private practice, imaging, anesthesia, and pathology.

    PGY-3

During the final year of training, surgical skills will be honed with more rearfoot and ankle experience, and elective rotations in rheumatology and behavioral health.  A research project should be completed by the end of the year.  More clinic time will take up the remaining time with practice management and postoperative care highlighted.
