  • Kid Care: Checkups

    How often should your child see the doctor? Of course, when he or she is sick. But your child also needs wellness checkups. Take your child to see the doctor according to the schedule below. (If your doctor gives you a different schedule, follow that.) During these wellness visits, the doctor will examine your child. He or she will also assess how your child is developing.

    Sample Checkup Schedule*

    Infancy

    3-5 days, by 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months

    Early Childhood

    12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months, 30 months, 3 years, 4 years

    5 Years & Older

    Every year

    *Based on recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (2008). Your doctor may give you other recommendations for your child.
