      What’s in Your Brain?

For Community Night, the Franklin Institute opens its doors to the public for free, allowing access to persons who may not be able to afford the cost of regular admission. In addition to providing helmets and fittings, the brain safety activities for children and adults include learning about how the brain works, what happens to a brain after a brain injury, and the importance of prevention. Visitors will also have a chance to meet with “Dr. Brain Dude” and hold a brain, to see service dogs in action, and to meet with MossRehab staff.

“We’re proud to provide bicycle helmets and to show children and their parents how to wear them properly,” said Thomas Watanabe, MD, Clinical Director, Drucker Brain Injury Center at MossRehab. “With the arrival of warm weather, children are pulling out their bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. While these activities are a lot of fun, there is the risk of brain injuries through falls or collisions. A helmet is a very effective and inexpensive form of protection, but only if it fits correctly.
