MEDLINE Plus is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. Use it to research
more than 650 health topics, important news, clinical trials, and senior health. You can also find information about medicines
– both prescription and over-the-counter. There are also fun, interactive tutorials. Information is available in Spanish,
too.

Discover health topics, a handy word search, and New York-area healthcare providers with the help of NOAH. Four New York City
library organizations teamed-up to make NOAH possible. Their goal was to create a Web site that would provide healthcare information
that’s easily accessible and understandable by everyday people – like you and me. The site’s information is available in English
and Spanish.

MEDEM is a service that links patients with information about their physicians’ practices and also reliable medical information.
Visit the Patients section of the site to find Learning Centers on children’s, women’s, and senior health, as well as general
health topics. Medical News and a newsletter for “Smart Parents” are also available. If you’re physician is a MEDEM provider,
you can search for him or her and then correspond with his or practice.

Similar to other general health sites, Hardin MD provides an easily searchable list of links to reliable health information
sources. Just search for a medical condition or topic using the alphabet shown at the bottom of the homepage, or enter a key
word in the search box. The site is maintained by the University of Iowa. The one thing this site provides that some others
don’t is access to health-related pictures which can be very useful and interesting.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the leading government agency dedicated to protecting the health of
safety of the American people. As part of its job, the CDC provides trustworthy information. Visit the CDC Web site to learn
about key health and safety topics (such as birth defects, disabilities, and staying healthy when traveling) as well as topics
that are timely (like flu season and back to school).
