their training.
- Each firm is structured as a group practice, with shared responsibility for learning and patient care.
- Firms have continuity of care responsibility for their outpatients and inpatients.
- Firms encourage an interdisciplinary team approach to learning and patient care.
- Firms emphasize collegiality, mutual support, teamwork and camaraderie.
Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics has a unique relationship with St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children (SCHC), a regional pediatric
referral center of international renown. The Pediatrics department at Einstein has its own clinical service at St. Christopher’s.
Einstein residents rotate on St. Christopher’s Pediatric floors under the supervision of Einstein ateendings. Einstein residents
also obtain their Intensive Care experience at St. Christopher's.
The full-time faculty in pediatrics is composed of both generalists and subspecialists in a mix that ensures an excellent
educational environment as well as a diverse mix of patients.
The Department of Pediatrics sponsors a wealth of innovative programs and research projects that reinforce its commitment
to the Medicine–Pediatrics residency program. These research programs range in scope from developmental aspects of premature
infants to vaccine development, and they provide residents with an opportunity to pursue their interests and to acquire experience
in research methodology. Both the Department of Genetics and the Division of Neonatology are recognized nationally for their excellence
in teaching, patient care and research.
