Medicine-Pediatrics residents gain experience in the care of newborns in two distinct settings: the term nursery and the neonatal
intensive care unit. The term nursery provides substantial exposure to well babies. Medicine-Pediatrics residents on the term
nursery rotation attend most deliveries and acquire valuable delivery room experience.
The neonatal intensive care unit at Einstein Medical Center is a busy, 27-bed, Level III unit where Medicine-Pediatrics residents
are exposed to the full range of neonatal problems, from extreme prematurity to complex congenital anomalies. Five full-time
neonatologists, an active research program, and a very busy NICU make this a very rewarding educational experience. Daily
teaching rounds on these services are conducted by a member of the full-time faculty.
