The Department of Medicine’s commitment to education is reflected clearly in the opportunities, encouragement and support provided for subspecialty fellow research.

Pulmonary/Critical Care fellows are expected to begin a research project during the first year of training. Research projects are selected based on subspecialty fellow interest and are supervised by a member of the full-time faculty. A full seven months of the second training year are devoted to research. Research projects are expected to culminate in presentations at national meetings and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals.

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine provides conference time and funds for each subspecialty fellow to attend a national meeting annually.
