Thank you for your interest in our fellowship program in rheumatology. Our program is based at the Einstein Arthritis Center
which serves Albert Einstein Medical Center, MossRehab and Willowcrest, a skilled nursing facility. All three institutions
are located on Einstein's main campus and are part of the Jefferson Health System. The rheumatology fellowship program has
been offered here for more than 30 years. We currently have two fellowship positions, one first year and one second year.
The Einstein Arthritis Center has a faculty of three full-time and one part-time rheumatologists. Our fellows also work with
the faculty of Einstein’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation which is based at MossRehab.
The two year rheumatology fellowship program is clinically oriented. First year fellows see outpatients in the Einstein Arthritis
Center three half days a week. They also are in charge of the inpatient rheumatology service which consists of rheumatology
patients and consultations on patients with rheumatic diseases. First year fellows also have elective rotations in orthopaedic
surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and laboratory immunology. Second year fellows see outpatients three half days
a week. Two of the half days are located at the Einstein Arthritis Center. The third half day is pediatric rheumatology clinic
based at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Second year fellows also are expected to participate in a research project
sponsored by the Einstein Arthritis Center.
In addition to regular teaching rounds there are a variety of formal learning experiences offered during the fellowship. There
is a weekly rheumatology conference, which includes a monthly musculoskeletal radiology conference as well as other topics
pertinenet to the rheumatology educational experience. There are also weekly rheumatology journal/clinical case division conferences.
In addition, first year fellows attend a Philadelphia city-wide conference in July and the Division of Rheumatology sponsors
fellows for various rheumatology courses in the area and nationally to supplement their educational experience.
