On November 14, Philadelphia magazine's Be Well Philly held a cocktail reception to announce the 2013 Health Hero. Although deserving--as proven by all of the votes he received--our Dr. Alberto Esquenazi did not get enough votes to take the title. But it was REALLY close! We congratulate Leslie Marant of Black Girls RUN on her well-deserved victory.
Because Dr. E was one of 4 finalists--out of more then 500 nominees--he did receive a check for $250 to help patients with amputations at MossRehab.Always gracious, Dr. Esquenazi reached out to his supporters via facebook:Dear facebook followers-It was exciting and fun to experience the Be Well Philly Health Hero Challenge.Via this facebook campaign, I connected with thousands of supporters, friends and patients, allowing me to share the essence of my work all while trying to support MossRehab's amputation rehabilitation program.Even though I did not receive the most votes, I made it to the finals thanks to all of you and I encountered 3 other wonderful individuals whose values, stories and charities were as great as mine.Because your votes got me as far as they did, MossRehab received $250 from the Health Hero Challenge.I am very thankful to all of you voters, the organizers of the Health Hero Challenge and those who headed up our voting campaign for all of the incredible effort and support.Yours truly,Dr. E
