I've been fortunate enough to partake in the Broad Street Run for three years in a row and every year a highlight of my running career is being cheered on as I roll through Center City with spectators and bands pumping pure energy into the streets. People screaming my name, clapping for me, and holding up hilarious signs are moments that never get old.

Why are you running the Broad Street Run: Broad street is a fun race to participate in. This year will be my third year running it. Of course all races are fun, but this particular one has a great crowd. I love seeing all of the people from the community lined up along the sides watching and cheering us on. It is also the fastest race I have ever participated in, not necessarily in my finish time, but in the feeling of time passing between start and finish. Once you cross that starting line you get so lost in the excitement and enthusiasm from other runners, the city, and the crowd that it's over in the blink of an eye. It's one of my favorite races.

There is nothing better than seeing cheering fans and a sea of runners as far as the eye can see. Because it’s a straight course, you can see the runners both in front of you and behind you for miles and miles. It’s a surreal experience and something everyone should experience once in their lifetime.

Webster Einstein NursesName:Stacie Webster, pictured with her daughter Shante Webster

Affiliation to Einstein:Both Critical Care Nurses at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia

How long have you been running? I have been running for most of my life, inspired by my father. When he went to play tennis, so did I. When he biked, so did I. When he went for a run, so did I. Being physically active is in my genes and in my heart.

Why are you running the Blue Cross Broad Street Run? Approximately 10 years ago, I was encouraged by two nurses to run Broad Street with them. The thought of running 10 miles was very intimidating. I was an active runner at the time but at lesser distances. Maybe five miles at the most. Finally, I agreed to try it. At the time, there were about 10,000 runners. My goal was to not be No. 10,000 at the finish line. Surprisingly, I did better than I expected. The energy of the crowd helped me finish in a time better than I had done in training. I officially "retired" a few times but something kept bringing me back. I tried encouraging my daughter Shante to run with me, but I couldn't get her to do it - until I "retired" the last time. She decided to give it a shot and so I came out of retirement ONE last time. This is an experience I wanted to share with her for years.
