  • Carl Chudnofsky, MD, Chair of Einstein’s Department of Emergency Medicine, Elected to Board of the American Board of Emergency Medicine

    Carl Chudnofsky, MD, FACEP, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Einstein Healthcare Network, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).

    Dr. Chudnofsky joined Einstein Healthcare Network as Department Chairman in 2000. He is also a member of the Einstein Healthcare Network Board of Overseers and Einstein Healthcare Services Board of Trustees. He is Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Chudnofsky has conducted numerous studies on emergency department procedural sedation and analgesia, authored more than two dozen articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and more than 20 book chapters, as well as books and professional abstracts. He is also a reviewer for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Annals of Emergency Medicine.

    The American Board of Emergency Medicine develops and administers the Emergency Medicine certification examination for physicians who have met the ABEM credentialing requirements. The ABEM Board of Directors is comprised of volunteer, board-certified, emergency physicians who are actively participating in ABEM Maintenance of Certification, a program of continuous learning and periodic assessment and are practicing physicians in Emergency Medicine.

    Dr. Chudnofsky has more than 16 years of service as an ABEM volunteer, having served as an examiner, senior examiner, team leader, and senior case reviewer for the oral certification examination. He is currently chair of the eOral Multiple-Encounter Case Development Panel, and a member of eOral Case Development Panel and eOral Field Test Development Working Group. He also served as chair of the Initial Certification Task Force eOral Pilot Advisory Panel.

    Dr. Chudnofsky will attend the 2014 summer ABEM Board of Directors meeting as an observer and begin his term at the close of that meeting.
