Einstein Medical Center Montgomery hosts community day, open house

Sports celebrities, community members, hospital officials and medical specialists were in attendance Saturday at “Destination Einstein!” to celebrate the opening of Einstein Medical Center Montgomery (EMCM).

The new $350 million hospital, which is slated to open Saturday, Sept. 29, celebrated a week early by welcoming the community to go on self-guided tours and by offering a fun-filled day with games, entertainment and health education activities.

“We’re thrilled by the turnout today,” said Kerry O’Connor, Senior Communications Manager.

The hospital’s expectation of between 5000 and 10,000 people was exceeded easily, said O’Connor.

Many people had to park at Norristown Area’s High School parking lot and take a shuttle to the hospital.

Once at their destination, community members were greeted by juggling acts and clowns on stilts to entertain them while they waited in line to see the new facilty.

“The turnout shows there was obviously a need for the services here and we are very happy to be the people that provide those services,” said O’Connor.
