Einstein Healthcare Network, a leading regional healthcare provider whose reach extends throughout Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties, announced the following board appointments for fiscal year 2014:
Steven Berk, Esq., of Ardmore, Pa., was elected to a second term as Chairman of Einstein Healthcare Network’s Board of Trustees, the governing body of the organization, and Einstein Healthcare Network’s Board of Overseers which serves in an advisory and fundraising capacity. Mr. Berk is a partner in the law firm of Segal, Berk, Gaines & Liss in Philadelphia. He joined the Einstein board in 1983, at the time that the Philadelphia Psychiatric Center (PPC), now Belmont Behavioral Health, joined Einstein. He is the third generation of the Berk family involved with PPC/Belmont. Mr. Berk has served in many leadership positions at Einstein, including Chairman of the Belmont Board; Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board Treasurer; Member and Vice Chairman of the Einstein Healthcare Network Board of Trustees; and prior to being elected Chairman of the Board, he served as Chairman of the Healthcare Services Board of Trustees.
Bruce W. Koch of Philadelphia, was elected to a second term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Einstein Healthcare Services. Mr. Koch is the Chief Financial Officer of the Starr Restaurant Organization. He has been a member of the Einstein Board since 1999 and has served in several leadership positions, including Chairman of the Quality Committee; member and Vice Chairman of the Einstein Healthcare Network Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Audit Committee.
Clifford D. Schlesinger of Bryn Mawr, Pa., was elected to a second term as Chairman of the Einstein Physician Services Board of Trustees. He is a Managing Director in the Strategic Wealth Advisory Team of Goldman Sachs. Mr. Schlesinger was elected to the Einstein Board in 2010 and currently serves as a member and Vice Chairman of Einstein Healthcare Network’s Board of Trustees and as a member of the Development Committee.
Lewis I. Gantman of Penn Valley, Pa., was elected to his first term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. He is Executive Vice President of Beverage Distribution Center, Inc., a large privately-owned bottler and distributor of nonalcoholic beverages. Mr. Gantman has been a member of the Einstein Board since 2002, and currently serves as a member and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Einstein Healthcare Network. Most recently, he also served as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Mr. Gantman also serves on the boards of many nonprofit institutions in the region, including the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
The following five new members were elected to Einstein Healthcare Network’s Board of Overseers:
Linda Bloom of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., has been an active member of Einstein’s Auxiliary for the past eight years, having served as Vice President and later as Executive Vice President. This year, she will serve as co-president of the Auxiliary and will represent the group on the Board of Overseers. Ms. Bloom has previously been a member of Einstein’s Breast Cancer Action Group for seven years, and served as co-chairman. She is semi-retired as treasurer of Yaffe Corporation, a real estate holding company.
Janis W. Rubin, MD, of Lafayette Hill, Pa., is a family physician who has practiced at Conshohocken Family Practice for 23 years. Dr. Rubin is Chief of Family Medicine at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and is a member of the Physician Services Board of Einstein Healthcare Network.
Anthony R. Sherr, Esq., of Worcester Township, Pa., is a partner with the commercial litigation law firm of Mayers, Mennies & Sherr, LLP. Mr. Sherr also serves on the boards of the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League and Hanover Fire & Casualty Company. He is a member of the Planning Commission of Worcester Township.
Gregory H. Stein of Wayne, Pa., is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner™ and Director of Wealth Management for the Philadelphia region at McGladrey Wealth Management LLC, a subsidiary of McGladrey LLP. Mr. Stein and his family belong to Temple Brith Achim in King of Prussia and he is an active member of the temple’s finance committee, as well as the finance committee of his local Cub Scouts in Chester County.
Luther E. Weaver, III, Esq., of Cheltenham, Pa., is President and founder of the law firm Weaver & Associates, PC. Mr. Weaver’s career includes serving as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division and the Chief of the Major Crimes Section for the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Eastern Pennsylvania. He has also been a partner at various law firms, serving as the managing shareholder at three of the firms. Mr. Weaver currently serves as a trustee on the board of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown.
