PHILADELPHIA (MARCH 21, 2013) - Barry R.Freedman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Einstein Healthcare Network has announced that David F. Ertel has been appointed as the organization's Chief Financial Officer.
Ertel brings more than three decades of experience in the field of healthcare finance to this new position with Einstein. In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Ertel will work with senior leadership to direct the Network's strategic financial initiatives and represent Einstein to rating agencies, the FHA and other outside parties.
"We have completed an extensive, national search for a Chief Financial Officer which has led us to David," said Freedman. "His background in investment banking and strategic financial advisory work will be an asset in the organization's continued creation of an effective, long-range capital plan."
Prior to joining Einstein, Ertel served as a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley & Company and Head of their National HealthCare Group. In that role he was responsible for providing investment banking services to healthcare clients across the United States.
Previously, Ertel served as Budget Director of the New Jersey State Department of Human Services for five years where he managed budget planning and control activities. He also served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Princeton HealthCare System/University Medical Center. He also has been an advisor to the National Quality Forum.
Ertel earned his undergraduate degree from American University and received his MBA and MPH degrees from Columbia University.
