Einstein Healthcare Network announced today that the Network has expanded its tobacco free campus initiative to Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia and several other locations throughout the region. The new locations join Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park and MossRehab as completely tobacco free campuses. The expanded policy will go into effect today, April 7, 2014. It bans the use of cigarettes or other types of tobacco anywhere on our campuses – including parking lots, vehicles or on the sidewalks adjacent to Einstein’s property. The organization’s tobacco free initiative was developed in response to feedback from employees across the Network, who wanted cleaner air and safer and healthier environments for our patients, visitors and staff. After careful consideration and planning, the policy now covers Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Center One, Willowcrest, Front & Olney and all Einstein owned or leased outpatient and practice locations.“Einstein isn’t just about healing illness, we’re about promoting wellness,” said Lynne R. Kornblatt, Chief Human Resources Officer, Einstein Healthcare Network. “Expanding our tobacco free policy is a natural next step in the promotion of healthier environments throughout our network.”Following an initial announcement of this expanded policy in January, Einstein implemented a series of communications, including signage and inserts in patient packages in an effort to alert visitors and patients of the new tobacco free policy. The organization is providing support to employees and patients who are affected by this policy through smoking cessation programs. In addition, Einstein has also launched a lung cancer screening program to help identify cancer at an early stage. The program is free to all who qualify – between the ages of 55 and 79; currently a smoker or have quit within the last 15 years; and have smoked at least a pack a day for 30+ years. Screenings are available at all Einstein Healthcare Network locations. To schedule a free screening, or for more information, please call 215-456-8188 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
