    Published: 03/31/2014

It all starts at our front door!

Einstein Healthcare Network is proud to announce that we are the official Healthcare Sponsor of the 2014 Blue Cross Broad Street Run, which will be held on Sunday, May 4th. Now in its 35th year, this event is known as "the Largest 10-Mile Road Race in the U.S.A." and attracts so much interest that it uses a lottery to award spots to runners.

As many of you know, this race starts right outside the Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia campus and goes to the Navy Yard, with supporters lining their way down Broad Street. This year's event is expected to involve about 40,000 participants.

    How We're Involved:

As an official sponsor of the Broad Street Run, Einstein will have a substantial presence at this important regional event and we'll be spotlighting Einstein Orthopedics and MossRehab. Some of the ways that Einstein will be involved include:

*Einstein Orthopedics and MossRehab will be featured in radio spots and a variety of printed, online and other materials related to the Broad Street Run

*Einstein's own orthopedic surgeon Minn Saing, MD, will serve as the Medical Director for the event

*We will be the lead sponsor of the Health and Wellness Expo, held on May 2nd and 3rd at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, which is expected to have about 30,000 visitors

*We will have an Einstein booth near the finish line at the Navy Yard

*Einstein experts, such as Anthony "Bobby" Ndu, MD, who specializes in foot and ankle surgery, MossRehab's Jeffrey North, MD, a specialist in sports medicine, and John Feeley, MSPT, with the MossRehab Runner's Clinic, and Einstein dietitian Theresa Shank will be providing tips on preparing for the race, how to avoid injuries and other topics on a dedicated Broad Street Run page on, which can be found at

Ways You Can Still Get a Spot in the Race

As part of our partnership, Einstein Healthcare Network also has access to a limited number of official Broad Street Run registrations that we'll be making available to employees, supporters and the public in a variety of ways. They include:

A free giveaway strictly for Einstein employees. Details on how to enter will be available exclusively on the EinsteinHealth and MossRehab Facebook pages.
Einstein also will be holding a "Bid on the Bib" online auction to support The Albert Einstein Society. Five lucky winners each will receive an entry bib to the Broad Street Run, 2 VIP passes to the Finish Line Hospitality Tent, and an Einstein Healthcare Network insulated neoprene sleeve. The auction opens Monday, March 31st and bidding will close at noon on Wednesday, April 9th. The starting bid is $100. Participants may bid in increments of $25. If you can't take the suspense of participating in the online auction, you can take advantage of a "pay now" feature and secure a bib for $2,500.
