Dr. Arnold Cohen receives the Outstanding Collaborator Award from Dr. Joan R.Bloch.
Arnold Cohen, MD, Past Chairman and Program Director, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Einstein Healthcare Network, was honored with an Outstanding Collaborator Award for improving maternal/infant health in Philadelphia and beyond for more than 30 years. The award, given by the Translational Perinatal Health Disparities Research Group led by Joan Bloch, PhD, at Drexel University, recognizes Dr. Cohen for the impact he has made in improving maternal health through his collaborations in research, education and practice across many disciplines.
Dr. Cohen has been an integral team member and leader at Einstein Healthcare Network, Maternity Care Coalition, and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, among other organizations, who have worked diligently to create better outcomes for mothers and babies. His work with colleagues in the field of maternal/infant care helped shape and change nursing education, practice and research, including supporting the perinatal nurse practitioner role in women’s health and making childbirth education classes accessible years before it was widely accepted.
Dr. Cohen’s influence in improving maternal health is evident today at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia where his team is changing traditional clinic-based prenatal care to the group model of Centering, first supported by the State, and now expanding with funding from the federal government.
