    Published: 11/27/2012

The Klein Jewish Community Center (JCC), in partnership with Einstein Healthcare Network, will open a Wellness Center at Klein JCC located at 10100 Jamison Avenue in the Northeast section of the city on December 10, 2012, it was announced by Andre Krug, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Klein JCC.

In making the announcement, Krug says that the new healthcare center has been specifically designed to serve Klein JCC adult members, as well as the general public residing within the surrounding communities. The newly constructed center will offer everything from doctor’s appointments and health screenings to specialist referrals within the Einstein Network, nutrition education and other health-related programs. Physical therapy is currently offered at the JCC through MossRehab, a member of the Einstein Network.

“We are the largest senior center in Philadelphia and adding a wellness component puts us on the cutting-edge of the healthcare provision for our seniors and maturing adults,” Krug notes. “This addition to our services will surely help to keep our seniors living as independently as possible for as long as possible.”

The Wellness Center at Klein will be staffed by Harvey Spector, DO, a primary care physician board-certified in osteopathic medicine with 45 years of experience. He will see patients at the Wellness Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. In addition to his hours at the JCC, Dr. Spector will continue treating patients at Einstein Center One located at 9880 Bustleton Avenue. Dr. Spector specializes in treating Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders and high blood pressure.

He is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he is on the teaching staff as a preceptor of family medicine. In addition, he is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Pennsylvania Family Physicians Society which named him “Family Physician of the Year” in 2007.

Dr. Spector will be assisted by Angela Stewart, ACNP-BC, MSN, CRNP, a certified
registered nurse practitioner, who will see patients at the Wellness Center Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ms. Stewart has been with the Cardiology Department at Einstein Medical Center since 2003.

“Expanding our services at the Klein JCC is in keeping with Einstein’s commitment to serve the Jewish community,” says Barry R. Freedman, President and Chief Executive Officer for Einstein Healthcare Network. “We are proud to bring Dr. Spector’s and Angela Stewart’s clinical expertise to the senior center and make their services easily accessible to members and to the community.”

The Wellness Center at Klein will accept most insurances. For additional information, contact Sue Aistrop, Wellness Center Director, at 215-698-7300, extension 110 or email
