Maria L. Halluska-Handy, MD, has been appointed Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park. She is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine as are all of the physicians that staff the 24-hour emergency department. Prior to being promoted, Dr. Halluska-Handy served as an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia since 2003.
She earned a medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (MCP) Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Halluska-Handy completed a residency in Emergency Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine and went on to complete an EMF/ACEP (Emergency Medicine Foundation/American College of Emergency Physicians) Teaching Fellowship in Emergency Medicine Education.
Her career at Einstein includes serving as Assistant Residency Program Director for Emergency Medicine and also serving as Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Residency Program.
Dr. Halluska-Handy succeeds Steven Parillo, DO, in her new role. Dr .Parillo continues to work in a clinical capacity in the Elkins Park Emergency Department and serve as Director of Einstein’s Division of Emergency Medicine Services (EMS) and Disaster Medicine, part of the Department of Emergency Medicine.
