MossRehab earned an Honorable Mention for the Innovation Award from The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) for developing a weekend student aide program to address the increasing need for weekend treatment in the inpatient rehab setting. The workplace entry was one of more than 130 entries received by HAP and was recognized as being innovative and a program that can be replicated by other hospitals.
Titled A Comprehensive Student Aide Program for Weekend Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Treatment in an Inpatient Rehab Setting, the program was successfully developed and implemented by Marcia Moore, PT, DPT, ATP, Clinical Manager, Inpatient Therapies at MossRehab, along with Elizabeth Marcy, PT, DPT, NCS, Weekend Team Leader, and Kim Boyle, OTR/L, Occupational Therapy Weekend Coordinator. The program also provides an additional stream of high level new graduates from local physical therapy and occupational therapy programs. “It’s gratifying to have our program recognized by HAP and to see how it’s enhancing patient care,” says Marcia Moore.
