  • Philadelphia Magazine Honors 31 Einstein Top Doctors

    Published: 04/26/2012

PHILADELPHIA, April 26, 2012 – The wealth of clinical excellence at Einstein Healthcare Network was exemplified with 31 doctors recognized as "Top Doctors" in the May 2012 issue of Philadelphia magazine. The Einstein doctors selected this year represent a broad range of clinical areas including orthopedic surgery, cardiology, medical oncology, nephrology, diagnostic radiology, endocrinology, and others.

This group, the largest ever for Einstein in recent years, affirms the reputation of Einstein doctors for providing superior, quality care and continues a long tradition of the network’s doctors earning this honor. Each year, Philadelphia magazine teams with Castle Connolly Medicine Ltd., a well-known healthcare research and information company and surveys the region’s physicians, asking them to identify other doctors who are highly skilled caregivers. Castle Connolly then reviews the information along with the doctors’ educational and professional experience before final selections are made.

This year, the "Top Doctors" issue showcases Einstein and MossRehab in the Medical Miracles feature, including a story about Dan Webb a man with a spinal cord injury who uses ReWalk™ as a form of physical therapy at MossRehab. The story describes the ReWalk device and notes that MossRehab physiatrist Alberto Esquenazi helped develop the technology. A photo of Mr. Webb in the ReWalk suit is also included. The second story features Army Sergeant Leonard Wilson who was successfully treated by Einstein’s Dr. Sumeet Mainigi for atrial fibrillation using catheter ablation,a procedure where electrical wires are fed to the heart through veins in the legs to destroy cells, repair the arrhythmia and prevent heart failure. Dr. Mainigi is quoted about the procedure and a study he conducted using this treatment. A photo of Mr. Wilson at an early morning run is included.

"It’s gratifying for so many of our physicians to earn this recognition from theirpeers," says Barry R. Freedman, President and Chief Executive Officer ofEinstein Healthcare Network. "Congratulations to our doctors, nurses and entireworkforce for the outstanding quality care they deliver each day. Thisrecognition is well deserved."
