Richard (Ric) G. Cuming, RN, MSN, EdD, CNOR, NEA-BC, has been appointed Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for Einstein Healthcare Network. Dr. Cuming will serve as a member of Einstein’s senior leadership team and participate in all appropriate clinical, quality and management effectiveness processes to ensure that the network goals are achieved.
He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of nursing services at the following locations: Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park, MossRehab, Belmont Behavioral Health, Willowcrest Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Cuming will also collaborate on nursing practice and standards for Einstein Physician Services which is Einstein’s employed primary care and specialty care physicians.
He is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow, in the midst of completing the three-year, world-class leadership development program to enhance the effectiveness of nurse leaders to impact the U.S. health care system. The highly competitive program is facilitated by the Center for Creative Leadership.
Most recently, Dr. Cuming served in a consulting role for Tenet Healthcare Corporation in Dallas, redesigning work practices in high-volume, high-cost healthcare areas within health systems. He has also held numerous senior leadership roles, including Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Administrative Officer for the Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Cuming received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Miami, and a Doctor of Education in Adult Education and Human Resources Development from Florida International University.
